Elastic Lambda Aggregation Network (EλAN) is proposed to improve the transmission efficiency and reduce the total energy consumption by integration of access networks of different services. In EλAN, Logical Optical Line Terminals (L-OLTs) can be migrated between programmable OLTs (P-OLTs), and can be migrated from one central office　(CO) to another CO.
Keio University Yamanaka Lab. demonstrates the NFV-based L-OLT migration following traffic fluctuation. When to total traffic amount of one CO becomes large, L-OLT migrates to another CO for load balancing. Then, total traffic amount becomes small, L-OLT returns original CO to reduce power consumption.
