The background to the presentation is that MPLS based service provider networks, for conveying IP traffic, are now reaching a level of maturity. This is evidenced by increasing take-up by customers - corporate, government, etc. However, this means that the initial modularity of provision capacity and business processes for early adopter traffic may no longer be adequate and hence may need to be revisited. In order to take account of organic/inorganic traffic growth, SLA compliance, churn, etc.
The presentation itself will primarily focus on the practical implementation of automated topological and traffic information collection in order to form an abstraction of the network. Highlighting the available options, the issues associated with each of these and the business benefits derived in supporting the key business processes of capacity management, traffic engineering and configuration management.
