MPLS has matured over the past few years to the point where it is now seeing numerous deployments. At the same time it is still very much an evolving technology. Consequently, the testing and characterization of new developments continues to be an ongoing requirement. Individual devices and scaled networks must be validated by equipment vendors and service providers prior to deployment. This presentation will focus on the testing and characterization of several MPLS-related technologies that have been generating industry interest. Among those that will be addressed are Virtual Private LAN Services (VPLS) and RSVP Fast Reroute. Results from multi-vendor testing of these technologies will be presented.
