This presentation compares traditional ATM/Frame Relay (FR) VPNs versus newer BGP/MPLS-based VPNs. This comparison will show why ordinary BGP/MPLS VPNs are far less secure than their ATM/FR counterparts. Next, different options for securing BGP/MPLS VPNs using IPsec are explored to determine which solutions can meet customers' security requirements without significantly increasing the cost of an MPLS solution. Finally, the scalability and manageability of the security solutions will be evaluated.
