Leading Vendors to Demonstrate Interoperability of MPLS Fast ReRoute, Protection Switching, BGP/MPLS-based VPN and Draft Martini-based Layer 2 VPN Implementations BUSINESS WIRE October 28, 2002; McLean, Virginia Isocore, today announced it will be hosting the 3rd public Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) interoperability demonstration following the MPLS 2002 Conference at its Interoperability Lab on October 30, 2002. The tests will focus on demonstrating vendor interoperability of MPLS resiliency using Fast ReRoute and LSP protection; as well as the provisioning of Layer 3 MPLS/BGP and Layer 2 Draft Martini Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), which are key to carriers' development of next-generation IP services. Vendors will demonstrate these capabilities in a testbed network comprised of OC-12, OC-48, OC-192 POS, and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. The demonstration will be presented live to attending Internet Service Providers (ISPs), press members, and vendor-invited guests. ISPs and equipment vendors attending the Isocore Internetworking Lab's Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) meeting agreed to the contents of interest for the demonstration in advance of the demonstration. This is the industry's primary forum for vendors and service providers to openly collaborate. Fast Reroute using Link Bypass and Backup LSP functionality in the testbed core will be demonstrated using devices from Avici Systems, Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks, and Marconi. Provider Edge and Customer Edge functionality in the provisioning of VPNs will be demonstrated using devices from Cisco Systems, Cosine Communications, Foundry Networks, Extreme Networks, Lucent Technologies, Redback Networks; as well as test equipment from Ixia Communications, NetTest, and Spirent Communications. The purpose of Isocore's Internetworking Lab is to help advance Internetworking and promote new technologies through validation.
